Jim Hamil Watercolor Comes to Collection

Chief Curator Mark L. Moseman poses next to “Building the Haystack, Late Afternoon” a painting that has been gifted by artist Jim Hamil to join the growing collection of exceptional agrarian art at Bone Creek. Jim Hamil’s renowned reputation in watercolor will be represented at Bone Creek in perpetuity. The Curatorial team selected this painting for its unique subject and technical achievement. “It may be unlikely to find another artist who has had this experience and captured this defining moment,” says Mark Moseman. The enormous haystack in Nebraska dwarfs the size of the working men whose farming methods can date this work to a particular period in history. The colors subtly blend into a wet-on-wet technique that creates an overall mood and environment to the painting and still distinguishes depth and details.
