Mohlers Start and Finish Nichols Funding

Bone Creek Museum of Agrarian Art has been undergoing a fundraising campaign for over a year that is now complete. The museum will curate and host an exhibition and book “Dale Nichols: Transcending Regionalism” about one of David City’s very own. The exhibition will open next year in David City and then travel to Georgia; receiving a wide exposure. Audiences are sure to enjoy his authentically American paintings.

Before the museum even opened some of the first visitors were members of the extended Mohler family. The Marvin Mohler and Harold McElravy families have a long history with the building at 575 E Street, now home to the Bone Creek Museum. They ran M&M Refrigeration and Plumbing for 50 years from the historic building. After the building was purchased in 2006, the building underwent renovations to be ready to house a first class art museum. With such a transformation, it is now hard to conceive of the place as it once was.

“The family fell in love with the museum from the very beginning” says Mark Mohler, now the Volunteer Coordinator for the museum. Bone Creek is proud to honor them for kicking off the initial Dale Nichols funding with a $5,000 donation dedicated to Alice Mohler Thompson. Recently, the extended Mohler family matched their initial gift and is now a Benefactor for the Nichols project. “The whole family has come together in support of this museum and we are glad to recognize them for their contribution as they have been true champions of Bone Creek,” says Associate Curator, Amanda Mobley. The Mohler family has invested their time and finances to kick off and finish the Dale Nichols Fundraising. Bone Creek is grateful to them and the many people who have enthusiastically promoted the museum.
