Bone Creek Museum is the Nation’s only art museum dedicated solely to the art of the land. Located only 30 minutes north of Seward, I-80 exit 379, Bone Creek is passionate about connecting viewers to the land through art year-round.
Our North Gallery is sweltering with the summer heat as depicted by “On the Homestead with Judy Thompson” a collection of watercolor works by Iowa artist Judy Thompson. These pieces highlight the pioneers of the homestead movement emphasizing long summer days spent on the prairie. This exhibition is on display through March 17, 2024.
The South Gallery displays a portion of Bone Creek’s newly gifted collection of paintings by western and agrarian artist Gary Ernest Smith. The anticipation of freshly planted spring fields, the abundant harvest of summer, crisp autumn mornings, and chilly winter days are all depicted through Smith’s keen eyes. This collection reflects the men and women of agriculture, rural communities, and the eternal nature of farmland.
Bone Creek Museum of Agrarian Art is open Wednesday-Saturday 10am-4pm, Thursdays 10am-6pm and Sundays 1pm-4pm
