Bone Creek continues to add to their quality art collection by the generous gifts of artists and collectors. At the end of 2011, Jean Terry, artist currently on exhibit, gifted to Bone Creek one of the priced pieces from her popular “Upstate New York Farmstead” collection. “Test Plot”, a portrait of her father checking different varieties of corn in the field, is now part of the museum collection. This is an iconic figurative pastel painting illustrating the deep connection to the land carried out by caretakers such as Terry’s father.
The first artist to exhibit at Bone Creek back in 2008 has recently gifted a large painting from her latest exhibition “Passing America: The Great Plains” to Bone Creek. V….Vaughan’s “Between the Day” is a stunning example of how artist’s can capture a moment in time to communicate to the viewers the inspiring beauty of nature. The vivid purples and oranges streak across the sky above a quite pasture and barn.
Also in 2012, Dale Nichols’ “The Young Corn God Weeping for His People” was gifted to the museum from the Mark and Carol Moseman Collection. Bone Creek continues to promote the works of their hometown David City artist, Dale Nichols. This is an important piece to understanding Nichols’ journey in art and is a great addition to the Moseman Collection at Bone Creek.
